Fifty7’s Top 7 Plug-ins for Achieving a Polished, Studio-Quality Mix

Fifty7 @ DUB 5 Studio A+, Central London

Hailing from Bangkok, Thailand, newly signed producer and engineer Fifty7 has been actively collaborating with the DUB 5 team. His work has taken him beyond the Central London hub to cities such as Rome, Madrid and Brighton, with a visit to Lisbon scheduled in the coming weeks. As part of his recent projects with DUB 5, Fifty7 has shared his top seven essential plug-ins for creating a polished, studio-quality mix.

For versatile EQ control, Fifty7 recommends FabFilter Pro-Q 3. This EQ plug-in allows for precise mid-side adjustments, enhancing center and side frequencies, and adds depth to a mix. Its dynamic mode processes only frequencies above a set threshold, ensuring cohesion without overcutting.

For vocal clarity, Fresh Air by Slate Digital adds subtle brightness and sparkle, giving vocals lift without harshness.

On the drum bus, DS-Drum Shaper by XLN Audio enhances attack and sustain, delivering a clean and punchy drum sound.

For guitar tracks, Fifty7 suggests LA-2A by Universal Audio for smooth compression, helping guitars blend naturally into the mix.

Crystalline by Baby Audio offers lush reverb with ducking features, allowing lead instruments to maintain presence.

On the master bus, Fairchild 670 by Universal Audio adds a “glue” effect, creating cohesive sound.

Lastly, Soothe 2 by Oeksound is a favourite for managing harsh frequencies, leaving a smooth and refined mix.
